The village of St-Vincent-de-Salers is built at the foot of a rocky escarpment overlooking the glacial valley of the river Mars. A picturesque village with some very old houses and a 12th-century church that has been refurbished on a number of occasions.

A picturesque village with some very old houses and a 12th-century church that has been refurbished on a number of occasions. Close to the church is the Château de la Borie (15th century). Numerous remains of water mills (there were seven between Saint-Vincent and Le Vaulmier, each with its own specific function: flour, walnut/hazelnut/beech nut oil, hemp grinding, sawmill, etc.), huts known as "Cottheuges huts".
The botanical and ornithological wealth of the various sites will delight enthusiasts.

After a diversion to admire the old bridge spanning the River Mars and the privately-owned Château de La Borie, the route takes you through the village and the hamlets of Colture, Méric and Bombarre, where you will find bread ovens, numerous wash-houses and watering holes, crosses, the old priory and a number of traditional houses.
There is a car park at the top of the village.
