Description

Started in 1935, the construction of Le barrage de l'Aigle ended in 1945. The dam played an important part during the war and it has been aptly named "the Resistance Dam".

Apart from its unusual history, the dam is also distinct from its architecture. Majestic, the reservoir has a capacity of 220 million m3. The highest water drop is 84m and the length at the top is 289m. In 1982, the construction of a fifth production group makes the dam the most powerful EDF installation ever made on the Dordogne river.
